Terms of Service

1. What PeerRise is

PeerRise connects Gwinnett County students with high-performing high school peer tutors for academic support. We're a small, student-run platform — tutors are independent high schoolers, not PeerRise employees, and PeerRise doesn't provide the tutoring itself; we handle matching, scheduling, and payment so families and tutors don't have to.

2. Accounts & eligibility

• You need an account (via our sign-in provider) to book a session or purchase a package.
• A parent or guardian may create and manage an account on behalf of a child who doesn't have their own email — the parent is responsible for that account's activity.
• You're responsible for keeping your account information accurate and your login secure.

3. Booking & cancellation

Sessions can be booked online for an available time with a specific tutor. Once confirmed, a session can be rescheduled or cancelled by the student/parent free of charge up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time. Cancellations or reschedule requests inside that 24-hour window aren't available through the site — email us at hello@peerrise.net and we'll do our best to accommodate you. A tutor may also cancel a session (e.g. an emergency); we'll notify you right away if that happens.

4. Payment & credits

• Sessions are paid for through prepaid session packages, purchased securely via Stripe.
• We never see or store your card details — Stripe handles all payment processing.
• Purchased session credits are added to your account and don't expire.
• Credits are non-refundable once purchased, except where required by law or at our discretion for a genuine service issue — contact us and we'll work with you.

5. Conduct

Sessions should be respectful and on-topic. In-person sessions take place in public locations only (a library or café) — never a private home. Online sessions use Google Meet or Zoom, chosen by the family. We reserve the right to suspend or remove any account for harassment, dishonesty, or unsafe behavior.

6. Tutors are independent

Tutors are independent students who set up a profile and are reviewed before appearing publicly (see our Safety Policy). PeerRise facilitates the connection but isn't a party to the tutoring relationship itself, and doesn't guarantee specific academic outcomes.

7. Limitation of liability

PeerRise is provided "as is." To the extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect damages arising from use of the platform. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.

8. Changes

We may update these terms as PeerRise grows. Meaningful changes will be reflected here with an updated date above.
